By Kim Mi-sung (Kim)Kim Mi-senThe North Korean government has announced plans to build a new luxury apartment complex on the North Korean side of the river, and it is expected to open this year.
According to the news site KCNA, the new complex will be situated on the river Bongboon and will include an 8-story, 1,500-square-meter building that will be connected by a pedestrian bridge, a water park, restaurants, and shops.
The new complex is expected for completion in 2019.
KCNA said the project will include a high-speed train station, a golf course, an indoor pool, a hotel, and residential units, with the building expected to cost around $1 billion.
The project will be financed by the North’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Information Technology.
The Ministry of Commerce has not yet announced the name of the project.KCNA reported that construction work will start in the summer of 2020 and the complex is planned to open in 2019 or 2020.
The complex will include 10-story apartments and offices, as well as a hotel.
The construction of the new apartment complex will take place in a location currently under construction in South Pyongan Province, which is currently controlled by North Korea.
